Pork steak (Bistek tagalog). Pork Bistek is a delicious take on the classic Filipino beef steak. With tender pork chops and a tangy and savory sauce, it's sure to be a family favorite. Bistek was the very first recipe I shared here on Kawaling Pinoy and, naturally, is very dear to my heart.
While a lot of people use pork chops in cooking their Pork Bistek Tagalog, I prefer to use pork steak cut from pork shoulders (or kasim). It gives softer meat and one that doesn't get tough. Porkchop steak or popularly known in the Philippines as bistek tagalog is comprised of thinly sliced porkchop (or you can use beef), cooked in soy sauce, kalamansi juice, and ring shaped onions. Since there's no kalamansi available around my area, I used the lemon juice. This dish is very simple to cook.
